Hii, it’s the season of luscious Strawberries so how can we not have a recipe with Strawberries!!
I am going to share my classic Trifle recipe which combines combines a sponge, custard n any fruit be it pineapple, mixed fruit etc but today i ll be using Strawberries as most people love this super fruit, but you can choose the fruit that you like, even fresh fresh caramelised oranges tastes great in this Trifle.
So here U NEED
1 vanilla sponge cake
10 to 12 big Strawberries cut lengthwise n mixed with a little castor sugar
2 tbsp mixed fruit jam, ( mix with 1 tsp water n warm a little to make it saucy)
For the Custard
1 litre milk
3/4 cup custard powder ( use Brown n Polson, gives the best results)
8 tbsp sugar ( lesser if u prefer)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp butter
Half cup whipping cream
For the Custard, heat the milk in a pan, add the sugar n allow to boil, mix the Custard powder in a little water or milk till it is sauce consistency n slowly pour in the boiling milk n keep on stirring taking care that no lumps are formed. Cool the custard n then add the vanilla extract, butter n blend it with a hand blender,then add the cream n blend again till it is smooth n creamy
Cut the sponge cake n cut into 2″ pieces n apply the jam on it!
To Assemble the Trifle;
Take a transparent bowl so that your layers show, line it first with a layer of the sponge cake, then add some Strawberries n pour the Custard on top , again line with the sponge, the strawberries n the Custard n top it with some Strawberries n serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
This is a recipe which will never fails to impress n is a super hit with everyone, so try it n don’t forget to add your variations, coz that’s what cooking is all about, experimenting!
